Glow Boosting Diwali Skincare Tips You Must Try
You know what will go really well with your Diwali ensemble? Glowing skin! On a quest to give that to you, we’ve scouted through many timeless as well as trending skincare hacks and short-listed some fail-proof tips, which aim to give you something that is as lit as your upcoming Diwali party! We hate to keep you waiting, so let’s get right to them.
Tip #1: DIY cleanser + mask
How did people wash their faces before face washes were invented? We’ll tell you. Chickpea flour and fuller’s earth mixed together makes for a bomb cleanser that deep cleanse, lifts dull skin and gives it a fresh glow. Mix these two in equal proportion and apply generously on your face. After it semi-dries, massage your face to buff away all dirt and grime – and say hello to glowing skin!
Tip #2: Mini exfoliation
What does that mean? Giving your face a pick-me-up two to three times a week, instead of doing it once. Worried you will overdo it? With the right product you will not. Our Mama Cica Instabright Peel Pads are packed with glycolic acid, Korean ginseng, lotus root extract and a bunch of other botanical ingredients that guarantee smooth and luminous skin. These are mild enough to be used multiple times in a week, as they aren't as concentrated as other exfoliators.
Tip #3: Overnight magic
It is true that you can’t get healthy skin overnight, but you can after many nights. (HA!) Using an overnight mask is like feeding your skin with a LOT of goodness for straight up 7-8 hours. Based on your skin type, you can pick and choose ingredients that work for your skin. Glycerin and hyaluronic acid works the best for dry skin, while soothing and healing ingredients like cica and niacinamide work on oily skin like magic.
Here’s a quick rundown of all of our overnight masks.
Tip #4: Glow potion
Apple cider vinegar has been a skincare secret since ages. It contains a high amount of malic acid (AHA) that helps clear away dead skin cells and makes skin appear brighter and youthful. Simply dip a cotton ball in 1:1 ACV and water and swipe it on your face. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with warm water. This can be done 4-5 times in a week for max results. Another way is to take a shot of it first thing in the morning. Gulp down 1 tablespoon of ACV on an empty stomach every morning, and this will reap glowing skin in no time!
Tip #5: Glow smoothie
Want to rosy cheeks without applying a blush? Taking the food route is a tasty and effective path to glowing skin. Fruits and fresh produce like berries, pineapple, kale, spinach, flax seeds, etc. are loaded with antioxidants and blood purifying agents that give your skin a lit-from-within glow. You can freeze your favourite fruits, add seeds/nuts and fresh veggies and drink this concoction every morning for breakfast. Here are two quick recipes >
Frozen banana + berries (any of your choice) + spinach + chia seeds
Beetroot + pomegranate + yogurt + greens (any of your choice)
Drink this every day, and you’ll thank us later!
Tip #6: Liquid gold - ampoules
Not much of a fan for multiple skincare steps? Need one product that can do it all? Allow us to introduce you to ampoules. They are concentrated serums packed with potent actives and botanical ingredients that can target multiple skin concerns for skin that is spot-free, blemish-free and healthy! Our Mama Cica Dark Spot Correcting Ampoule contains Korean ginseng, cica, lotus root, tamanu oil and hyaluronic acid that fade dark spots, protect skin barrier, balance oil production and add a luminous glow. Use them post cleansing in the AM and PM and follow it up with a lightweight moisturizer.
That’s all for acing that dewy skin for Diwali, but what about after? When you’ve hogged on sweets, fried treats and eaten all sorts of junk? Your skin will need an immediate SOS plan-in-action, and lucky for you, we’ve already made one.
Post-Diwali Skin Care
Tip #1: Misty beauty
After all those days of patting on makeup and looking your fabulous-self, it’s time to rejuvenate your skin. Makeup tends to dehydrate skin, making it look dull and dry. Using a hydrating mist in between your skincare routine as well as during the day is a game-changer. It balances skin’s pH levels, calm inflammation, and soothes irritated skin. Our Birch Please Moisturizing Face Mist contains ultra-nourishing ingredients like birch juice, hyaluronic acid and sea buckthorn that revives and calms skin. Spritz it any time during the day for instant hydration or before applying your moisturizer for added moisture.
Tip #2: Sheet up
Take the relaxation and rejuvenation to another level with a skin-soothing sheet mask. These are mini facials that get the job done in just 20 minutes and give you visibly softer and healthy skin. Our genius Mama Cica Mud Dipping Sheet Mask For Oil Control And Clear Skin is a 2-in-1 clay + sheet mask that detoxifies skin as well as hydrates it in one go. With kaolin clay glycerin and cica smartly blended in one product, there is a very rare chance you’ll find this combination anywhere else.
Tip #3: Skimp on makeup
It’s always nice to give your skin a breather from makeup every once in a while. If you’ve sported a full-face makeup during the Diwali festivities, then it is best to skip or apply minimal makeup for the next few days. Meanwhile, you can continue using your usual skincare routine to replenish your skin.
Tip #4: Steaming hot
To really get that makeup, gunk, and impurities far and away from your skin, steam it! This will go deep and bring to the surface all that is hidden in your pores. It’s also a great way to hydrate and soften skin, as well as promote blood circulation for a naturally flushed look. And at the end, steaming your face for just 2-3 minutes is incredibly good and soothing.
And that’s a wrap. Follow these pre and post Diwali skincare routine and get that dazzling skin you’ve always dreamed of!
