How You Should Take Care Of Your Skin In 30s

How You Should Take Care Of Your Skin In 30s

As you enter your 30s, you’re welcomed with some unwelcomed troubles. Be it graying of hair, heightened fatigue, digestive troubles and of course, ageing. Skincare in your 20s might be fun and games but now is the time to get serious. Unattended skin or a lousy skincare routine add fuel to an already deteriorating skin health. If this scares you a little, now is the time to take matters (read: anti-ageing serums) into your hands and redirect your skincare regime as you cross the three decade mark.

healthy skincare practices to follow in your 30s1. Your AM and PM routine should be different

Okay bad news first: whatever skin problems you are dealing with are very likely to aggravate in your 30s. Simply because, as you age, your skin starts losing its capability to maintain and repair itself. Time for the good news: there is a whole lot you can do about this. The first thing is to have a separate morning and night skincare routine. Using the same products in the AM and PM might be working for you earlier, but now, you need to up your game. During the day, your skin is exposed to UV rays and environmental stressors, which is why your AM routine should consist of preventative and antioxidant-rich products like serums and sunscreen.

Night is when your skin repairs and restores itself, so look for rejuvenating products like chemical exfoliants, sleeping masks and so on. Be as consistent with your routines as possible. Cleansing well is also important, yet often overlooked. Make sure that you’re thoroughly cleansing your skin using a cleansing balm before you hit the bed.

2. Pay extra attention to neglected areas

Funnily enough, your neck, décolletage and under eyes are the most neglected parts, where the signs of ageing actually show up much sooner than your face. As a thumb rule, start applying all your skincare products to your neck while you apply them to your face. Your ‘face’ does not end at the chin, but actually goes down till your chest.

You can prevent sagging and fine lines in your décolletage and chest area with a really nourishing body cream. Moving your hands in an upwards and sideward direction, pamper your skin with a relaxing and anti-ageing massage.

As for the under eye, pick an eye cream that contains brightening and hydrating ingredients like vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, cica, ginseng, etc. These ingredients are super hydrating and help keep the under-eye skin firm.

3. Introduce collagen-boosting products

Collagen is like the make or break element in your skincare health, quite literally. Lack of it and you end up with loose, sagging skin. But, there are ingredients that seep into your skin to stimulate the production of collagen, giving you firm and glowing skin. Using an anti-ageing serum that contains vitamin C is the way to go. It is the #1 collaging-boosting ingredient, tightly followed by anti-ageing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, ginseng and retinol. All these ingredients keep your skin firm, help in cell-turnover rate and improve skin texture.

4. Facial massages for the win

No matter what you might have heard, facial massages do work. They are like Pilates, but for your face. Which means that for results to show, you must do them regularly and diligently. Facial massages, along with being relaxing, actually boost the circulation of blood to your face and tone your facial muscles. This helps in keeping your skin younger-looking and radiant. These massages also help to flush out toxins and impurities from your face with something known as lymphatic drainage.

But if time is a constraint and you do not like to hurry, then even a weekly 20 minutes massage will work. Use an adequate amount of a serum/moisturizer/facial oil to get the perfect slip while massaging.

5. Try facial ampoules for better skin health

You know serums by now, obviously. Skin clearing, dark-spot reducing, acne-bashing liquids that contain concentrated skincare actives. Ampoules are like serums on steroids. They are much more powerful, offer better and quicker results and give skin a luminous glow. Ampoules come second to none in improving skin health and deliver what they promise – in a much effective way. You can call them serums 2.0 that are packed with nutrients and actives that rapidly address specific skin concerns while moisturizing skin. During 30s, when your skin needs some extra help, using an ampoule in your day and nighttime skincare routine and tips will do the needful. Apply it just like a serum, and layer it after your toner or essence and before moisturizer.

If you had or have an unhealthy lifestyle and diet, it will all start to show on your skin now. But, better late than never, take a step towards keeping your skin and body internally healthy.

Ageing is natural and beautiful. All we can do is show our skin some love with the right products as we move from one year to the next.
